Once the BGP Peers have created a TCP connection, sent OPEN messages and acknowledged them, the PEERS use the UPDATE messages for advertising the new destinations which are reachable or to withdraw the process from previous advertisements when a destination has become unreachable which illustrates the UPDATE message. Also, the every UPDATE message is divided in two parts, the first part lists previously advertised destinations which are being withdrawn and the second path specifies the new destinations which are advertised over a specific part of network. As, the usual fields which are labeled variable don’t have a fixed message, if the information is not needed by the particular UPDATE then it can be ZEROED in for the processing update which can be undone by the hosting protocol.
If none of the destinations are being withdrawn, the withdrawing LEN contains zero. Similarly, the PATH LEN field specifies the size of the path attributes which are associated with the new destinations which spread most of the values which are neither hosting protocols or nor the one which have or possess the qualities of the BGP header message format. If there are no new destinations then the PATH LEN field contains the zero part which is then matched with the filed as if the zero is contained or not.
