On the other hand, PHP is associated with Linux platform just as ASP is to Windows. According to some, PHP is easier to learn and cheaper, considering that it is open-sourced and freely available for everybody to learn.
Also, PHP web hosting is also cheaper in comparison with ASP web hosting. PHP and MySQL are free and make a powerful combination. This may be the reason why PHP remains popular for some, especially smaller projects and even small companies.
ASP web hosting may entail spending some cash for the service. But since it is not open sourced, this is expected. Anyhow, for a small price, ASP web hosting is also a good choice for bringing one’s website to the Internet.
In reality, the choice between ASP and PHP solely depends on the user’s proficiency and knowledge on either language. As said, both are powerful languages and each also has its own set strengths and weaknesses. It is advisable to go for the one which feels most comfortable, and also, affordable.
